When, at the last elections, the members were kind enough to renew their confidence in me, I promised to carry out my new term as president on the basis of five fundamental principles.
Firstly, to keep on improving the service to members. Although, as is well known, our facilities are open and in perfect harmony with the municipality and with all those visitors who come to share their leisure time with us, our Club members must receive special treatment. This is in recognition for the efforts they have been making since our facilities were nothing more than a small house on the beach. In this effect we have adapted our Operational Regulations and the Board of Directors has proposed that all reasonable measures that benefit the membership as a whole should be reviewed so the Club can continually enhance its services to members.
Secondly, to listen to initiatives proposed by the members to enable the Board to ensure that improvements to Club facilities are based on the wishes of the membership so that everyone can feel at home here. That is why, from day one, I said that any member wishing to contribute ideas would be welcome to collaborate with the Board. I want to personally thank the members of the Board, and those who have been working with the Board, for their great support, dedication, hard work and effort. I also want to reach out to all those visitors, and lovers of the sea, sailing, and windsurfing, with an invitation to join with the Board and existing membership and be part of the Ampolla Yacht Club family.
Thirdly, to plan the next renewal of the concession, acting prudently, and making the necessary investments so that, when the time comes, we can continue to enjoy our facilities at the lowest possible cost. The quality certifications obtained by the Club have enhanced our standing and will facilitate the achievement of a successful renewal. The beauty of our environment, with which the Port is in complete harmony, must be respected. We will redouble our efforts in this regard.
Fourthly, to continue to balance the budget maintain the social heritage, and improve the financial results after a number of difficult years for us all. I believe that we have been able to combine improvement of our facilities with the financial prudence that will continue to be of benefit to us all.
Finally, and as the main principle that has informed my approach ever since I joined the Board many years ago, everything the Board does should be based on honesty, transparency and equal treatment, avoiding the lack of transparency and favouritism which, unfortunately, prevails today in many organisations. Those who work together to manage the Club’s affairs must lead by example in these respects.
I hope that we will continue improving, at least that is my commitment to you, and I invite all lovers of the sea, sailing, and windsurfing to visit us and get to know this wonderful land and our Club, in the wonderful Bahia de la Calma.
